Veni Vidi Medical's Comprehensive FCI Oculoplastic Solutions for Adults and Paediatrics

Addressing Epiphora

Epiphora, is a treatable ophthalmic condition that causes watery eyes. It is commonly caused by excessive tear production or complications within the lacrimal system's anatomy, resulting in poor tear drainage. The evolution of oculoplastic surgery and the robust range of FCI Oculoplastic products provided by Veni Vidi Medical now make the management of epiphora more efficient and less invasive than ever.

The lacrimal system, comprising the lacrimal gland, puncta, canaliculi, lacrimal sac, and nasolacrimal duct, is integral to the process of tear production and drainage. Any disruption in this system, including blockages, can lead to conditions such as epiphora, chronic dacryocystitis, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, punctal stenosis, and canaliculitis.

Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction or NSLD Obstruction can be treated in a number of ways, initially a patient will undergo a syringe and probe, followed by flushing of fluorescein through the system to detect the dye in the nose. If the Epiphora treatment is not successful, a silicone lacrimal stent can be placed in the system to create a patent opening to allow for tear drainage.

What can be done for Epiphora

In partnership with FCI, Veni Vidi Medical offers a comprehensive range of innovative products, each tailored to address these conditions in adults and paediatric patients:

Bicanalicular Intubation: Our Autostable bicanalicular stent offers reliable tear drainage for adult patients. Product information

Monocanalicular Intubation: The Lacrijet is the newest form of monocanalicular intubation released by FCI. It is preloaded onto an introducer and is a self-retaining, monocanalicular intubation used for simple cases of nasolacrimal stenosis or canalicular laceration (CL). This intubation does not require endonasal retrieval.

Bicanalicular Nasolacrimal Intubation: The Crawford tube set and Bika models, including Bika for DCR, serve this purpose in both adults and children, with the Bika for DCR also being suitable for DCR surgery as a real alternative to the discontinued O’Donoghue Tubes.

Canalicular Laceration: The Mini Monoka stent, considered the gold standard in the UK, is an effective treatment option. The Lacrijet, a similar self-retaining stent, preloaded onto an introducer, is available in a range of sizes suitable for both adults and paediatrics.

CDCR (Conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy): The "Stop Loss Jones Tube" (SLJT) is part of our superior product offering. This product, a direct alternative to the discontinued Lester Jones Tube (LJT), features a silicone flange that minimises the risk of migration/extrusion.

DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy): The Bika for DCR stent is our effective solution for DCR surgeries, mirroring the design and functionality of the now-discontinued O'Donoghue tubes.

Punctal Stenosis: For punctal stenosis cases, we provide the PVP perforated plug, a unique solution to enhance tear drainage effectively.

In conclusion, Veni Vidi Medical's extensive range of FCI Oculoplastic products is designed to provide effective treatment options and improved patient comfort for both adults and paediatric patients. Whether you're associated with the NHS, a private hospital, or a patient seeking the best care, our products and expertise are at your disposal.
